A glimpse into the future
It all started with a book shop in Agra U.P. "V.S.
JAIN BOOK SELLERS" Mr. Mahendra Jain joined the business
with his father in 1971.
He watched the progress of business, with great focus on the need
of the youth, specifically those who are graduating from Hindi medium
and are having all competency as compared to those who were coming
from English medium.
This sparked an idea to provide quality books in Hindi. This idea
was converted into reality by inception of "UPKAR PRAKASHAN",
in year 1970, specifically publishing books for preparations related
to Civil Services, and other Clerical examinations.Today Upkar Prakashan
is publishing more than 1500 Books every year. These books have
expanded its fields up to almost all competitive examination from
Union /State civil service to BBA, MBA, BCA, MCA, etc.
UPKAR PRAKASHAN IS A trusted name today in terms of quality
of contents.
In year 1978 the introduction of "Pratiyogita Darpan"
magazine was executed, as a monthly Hindi Edition. It created consciousness
and self confidence among readers who preferred Hindi as medium
of expression. It has achieved the readership of 23,91,000, readers
as per Indian Readership Survey 2006 (Round I). Strong editorial
contents have been the USP (Unique Selling Proposition) of Pratiyogita
Darpan.
In Year 1988, A new variant of monthly Hindi periodical
Samanya Gyan Darpan got introduced, for catering to the specific
needs of those mass readers who look for Comprehensive collection
of "Objective Type Questions" to enhance their
quality of preparations for various competitive exams. It has a
strong consolidated circulation of 1,80,000 copies.
Start of Year 1998, A comprehensive and focussed variant
Competition Science Vision was introduced in the market for
serving the needs of aspirants for premedical examinations. The
USP of Competition Science Vision has been its systematic
focus on course content providing a comfortable level
of preparatory text to face premedical Entrance exam; "considering
the mindset of a student who has just passed out his 10+2 exams".
Today Upkar Prakashan as well as Pratiyogita Darpan,
has benchmarked the market of competitive books and
career-oriented, competitive preparation Magazines, and they
have been acknowledged as most respected, reputed &
consistent sources of reading among students and their families.
In the year 2006, There has been a "New Horizon",
Pratiyogita Darpan introduced its English edition
for those readers who were demanding its edition in English, with
specific needs. The first edition has been on news stands since
June 2006, and has received great response with start up circulation
of 1,30,000 copies, specifically focusing on readers all over India
where English is preferred as medium of expression.
